Red Torque X

This is going to sound strange, but I assure you it is a legitimate bug, caused by god only knows what (perhaps just the free copy?).

I recently downloaded a trial copy of the Torque X 2.0 software, and played around with it for a few hours. I stumbled upon the Preferences dialog in the Edit menu, and merely clicked "OK" without changing anything, just moments later. As soon as the dialog closed, the grey layout editor turned bright, red, and has remained so since. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling, uninstalling, deleting all registry entries related to it, and reinstalling, playing with the options to get it to change, and nothing is working. I have wanted to continue my evaluation of the trial copy before making a final purchasing decision for myself and my development team but have had no luck.

I have a screenshot of it, and if anyone thinks they can help me isolate this problem and fix it, it would be greatly appreciated. I have heard great things about the software and from the first few hours I was playing with it, it seems I could save my team a lot of headaches by using the software. But staring at cherry red for hours upon end simply will not do! Please advise!!
