Constructor Urgent Help

by Geovanne Ramundo Binda · in Artist Corner · 10/31/2008 (5:21 am) · 10 replies

Hi
I'm new in Constructor, and I have a big problem here: I'm trying to make a round shape using a cylinder and the hollow brush, but when I export into the FPS demo, the collision doesn't work with some walls. I don't know if it is a constructor's problem or if i'm doing it wrong, if someone knows another way to do it please tell me.

Also be weary that if your trying to export a gaint cylinder (like a huge tower) you might have to break it up into pieces. constructor has a issue with large faces. Sometime you can see it. If it splits or the textures goes wonky before you export, thats a sure sign its too big. squares are a different story, and be bigger then cylinders.

That's exactly my problem, I have to make a big round room for my university project. I'll try to break it into pieces. Thanks for the help.

You need to update to the latest version of Constructor which is 1.0.51. You can find it here: Constructor 1.0.51 patch, and that should take care of the collision problem for you.

Yah, if your looking for a perfectly round room. you might try a different program, like Hammer or 3dWS. Constructor has always had a problem with circles and spheres, or its cylinder tools. Its a work in progress. The upgrade to 1.0.5.1 should help alot.

CSG spheres have always been a problem. It's been a problem in Radiant for a while and was scaled way back in the last couple of versions in favor of Bezier curves. Unfortunately, not all titles that use Radiant as a map editor had access to the curves in their engines.

There's a trick to use of spheres in Constructor. You can find the "Everything About Constructor" thread that Apparatus started a while back, and I posted a general how to use spheres there. You can actually create some rather large cylinders with no problems, but spheres take a little work, careful planning, and a bit of luck to get right - for some reason lot's of memory seems to help.

Ugh. Intel 965GM. There have been several problems with this chipset.

Have you updated your drivers to the most current ones from Intel? When you open the console.log where does it seem to be crashing?
