Hi, I'm looking for a MMORPG starter kit for TGE. Do you guys know if there is one for sale or a free one for download?

Thanks for your help~

Always,
Vickie ;)

@Vickie - Check out MMO Workshop. The MMO kit featured there is built from Prairie Games Minions of Mirth MMORPG. MoM is a commercially successful MMORPG, and MMO Workshop and the Kit were founded by the original developers.

You should know, though, that you will only get support for the kit at their site. We can't be of much help here, unless you are asking about general Torque mechanics. Also, the original developers have sold the product and site.

Have a look around and good luck! =)

Eh? So who owns it now? They sold MoM or just the MMOKit and the MMO Workshop site?

@Jonathon - Maybe "sold off" is a bad choice of words. Josh and Lara resigned from Prairie Games, and now work for GarageGames. I do not know much more beyond that.

Long-Time Game Industry Veteran Randel Reiss Acquires Major Stake in Prairie Games, Inc.

Change in ownership of Prairie Games

I believe Randel Reiss has become the sole owner of Prairie Games and the MMO Workshop.

There's something floating around in the community that MMOworkshop has been moved from Prairie Games to Technopop Inc within the last few days, although I believe both fall under the ownership of said Randel Reiss anyway. Might be nothing, might be something, I won't pretend to know either way.

Incidentally, Vickie, the MMOworkshop site has a habit of falling over (down as I type) so unofficially a fair chunk of the community heads over to the Torque/PG Kit section of the MMORPGmaker forums during downtime. Mostly just to bitch about the site been down, but handy if you need to poke the regulars about anything.

Would I be out of line to ask: Why would you leave your own business, to join or work for another?

Anyways, I am sure they had good reason and GG and us followers would only benefit from the transition.
Perhaps we will see some MMO added to TGE / TGEA in C++ code?

I ask because MMO seems to show up everywhere. Green-Ear is even built with MMO in mind.
It would stand to reason ( at least to me ), that having Josh and Lara working with GarageGames would mean that new MMO code and hence MMO demos would be on the menu.

Maybe just wishful thinking on my part. *shrug.

@Scott - Josh and Lara both wrote blogs here on GG announcing their GG employment. I think they did a pretty good job explaining why.

Definitely wishful thinking about the kit. GG has not announced, nor has any plans to announce, a MMO kit for any Torque engines. We brought Josh and Lara on for other purposes. Their talent goes beyond MMO tech, believe me.

Unless someone definitively says otherwise in a blog, do not expect anything.

I didn't see the blogs.

My post wasn't meant to infer that GG will ever do anything MMO it just seemed like a natural question which I wouldn't have asked If I had read the Blog or known about the Blog, to read it.

And for expecting anything? I never expect somebody to do my work for me, I am content with the Engine GG has built as-is, and any engine code I add is often selective parts of someones focused efforts that I paid for, or from my own study and effort.
I do enjoy reading others code and the way they implement a solution, it's an on-going learning experience.
