Sorry just another quiry about applying for 3d artist

Sorry i was just wondering if i could ask the garagegames community about the issue of applying for 3d artist jobs.

I realise that the bulk of advice I get about this issue is basically saying just model anything well and do enough pieces to get your skills across to potential employers but I need to know if there is any sort of traditonal models people have done and got slated for or is there any piece of advice from someone who has been in this dilemma can offer?

I am just about to finish my degree relating to games design and I need to know.

Showing good character design skills is key. Good mechanical modelling. A good understanding of low Polygon optimization and issues would be good as well.

Rigging, animation, its all good. Cinematics as well.

Basically I'd say its the same as creating an animation reel but you also need to show in game stuff and Good low poly judgement. The more you can impress, in terms of amazing graphics with low Poly modelling, the more you will stick out.

Just showing high poly stuff might look good, but it leaves a big question unanswered, do you know the technical stuff? Of course if you model like Michelangelo, its all good ;-)
