Part of solid Mesh missing

One of the modelers I work with sent me a file to export to TGEA. There are missing parts in the fuselage that was a solid mesh. Also the elevator is missing. This DTS was crashing TGEA so I decided to try STP a try and it calls it up but the image below is what I have.
Is this due to the poly size? Its about 46588 at the moment.
hmmm..
Might help if I add the link to the image:

With that being said, it has been exported to other formats and other game engines fine, just no animations. That is why I was surprised to see that it did not convert in TGEA.
@Steve...
I am not a heavy animator and haven't modeled in years, but looking late last night I suspect the normals are off and you may be correct. I will try that tonight if I can.
This imports into XSI/Houdini fine from the MAX exports, so maybe I can try and reduce the meshes in those programs. I can't do it max that I am aware of, but then again. Can ask them to reduce it for me.
Thanks for the info.... Will do some more checking and repost if I get a got export....

This model is not optimized nor completed, no animation (except one for testing) yet ect,ect. Only for testing if it all parts are transferred, ect,ect. Is not the final game model. They prefer a higher poly count for ease of modeling, then reducing... With that being said, it has been exported to other formats and other game engines fine, just no animations. But begin with trying to re-export the model from max, maya, xsi or what ever modeling program your using.
