EDIT: You can now download an old buggy beta from here:
Zompocalypse. Much has changed since this release, and many bugs fixed so I am generally not looking for bug reports, however, gameplay crits welcomed. Again, this game comes with a language warning. :)
Will probably be taken down soon.

Hi everyone. Just thought I'd pop in and give everyone a look at what we've been working on the last few months of our lives. It's a shooter, plain and simple, but we've added some really cool characterization to it I think. There's lots of pickups, weapons (six of 'em), a levelling system and just a lot of shooting and zombies. :D

The second image with the huge zombie throwing fireballs is our "Pope of Harlem" zombie. The game is extremely cheesy which is what we were going for.
In case you didn't see my blog post, there's also a video up on Vimeo (warning: some course language)

Feedback always welcome. :)

Looks great. Completing a project like this is really hard... when starting is so easy, what's up with that?! Hey and where do you find competent artists.. that seems to be a major pain point for me.cheers!

Looks awesome. You definitely should turn off filtered images and go with a real retro-sprite look.

I like the look, don't see anything wrong with the smoothing.

@Michael - You make a valid point about the gameplay, and we are working our way towards spicing it up more. For one, there's an "almost complete" bonus driving stage where you run over zombies on a highway for bonus points, we are thinking of linking this up to the next level. This is a cross level bonus though, not in-level like what you have suggested. Of course, we have more plans for that as well. :D
About the blending. We've actually tested a lot of the graphics without filtering, and to be honest, we thought it looked *a lot* better with it turned on, primarily because of the pseudo-depth effect. We've had a lot of positive responses to the perspective effect so it's unlikely that we'd abandon that.
But yeah, keep the feedback coming! :)

@Nic: I've known the artist (Paul Greasley) for years now as we both worked at Fuzzyeyes Studio years ago. So, that's how we found each other!

I think it really looks good. Here is some constructive critique.
* The gameplay seems a bit repetitive. Some kind of special attack or attack combos would be an improvement, I think. Just to give the game a more diverse rhythm.
* Also it seems that most of your graphics are pixel art. I think the look could profit from turning off the smoothing. At least I would prefer having the option to do so. Of course than you would also have to turn off the pseudo-perspective and add some small code changes to fight swimming effects. But it's probably worth the effort.
Otherwise it looks great. I hope to see more of it in the future :)
