Problem exporting model

I'm working on the programming side of a game, and we're trying to export a model from a 3D studio .max file to a Torque .dts file. I'm having trouble making the leap from the overly simple examples included in the documentation, to exporting a complex model with bone structure and animation.
If somebody can recommend resources, or would be willing to take a look at the model in question and give me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated as we're on a very tight deadline.
