ITGB specs

by Kenneth Lemieux · in Torque Game Builder · 09/18/2008 (1:47 pm) · 6 replies

The current specs listed on the iTGB page lists the following for System Requirements.

MAC OSX

Minimum
G4
512 MB RAM
MAC OSX 10.3
nVidia or ATI accelerated 3D video card
Compiler: we recommend XCode. Other compilers work, but are unsupported by GarageGames.

Recommended
G4, G5 or Intel Mac
1 GB RAM
MAC OSX 10.4+
nVidia or ATI accelerated 3D video card

Deploys to: iPhone / iPhone 3G / iPod Touch

1. The iPhone SDK requires MAC OSX 10.4.5 (I think).

2. Does this mean that iTGB doesn't actually require the iPhone SDK?

3. Is is possible to upload an iTGB project to the iPhone without using the SDK?

4. Does iTGB use the iPhone simulator?

I'm waiting on buying new Mac hardware until the new models are released and want to know if I can run iTGB on an older Mac for now.

Thanks!

Those are the TGB specs. The Apple SDK specs are required for iPhone deployment. That needs to be updated on the page.

1. I believe the iPhone SDK requires 10.5.
2. Yes it does at this time. There have been some crafty groups who know their compilers intimately who have gotten around it, but unless you're extremely intimate with your compiler, I wouldn't recommend going that route unless something slick and easy comes about.
3. I do not believe so.
4. Yes.

Hi David,

Thanks for the prompt response.

I'm really glad to hear that iTGB uses the simulator. I can't wait to get my hand on it.

Can someone at GG please update the iTGB requirements to make it clear that it NEEDS a Mac for deployment. I've been tricked by this a couple times already and based on the number of forum posts about it so have a bunch of others.

any kind of iPhone development requires a mac.
Not just deployment but also testing in simulator etc

But thats pretty clearly stated on the iphone dev page at apple

The iPhone SDK now requires the latest version of the OS (10.5.7). Everything needs to be updated, so don't sit on 10.5.5 :)
