1.72?

by Adam Beer · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 09/14/2008 (9:37 am) · 8 replies

I am just curious as to what will be included in TGEA 1.72. Theora is something that has been missing for a while, so that might be a good addition. Is anyone able to give a bit of insight as to what we can expect for the next release?

Im interesting as well, as some time has passed and its kind of a more mature product now, with many people using it (for a considerable time by now), some interesting bugs were found, etc.

But actually this is the first time I read about the next revision, has any of the folks even mentioned something about it? If not, is maybe better to leave them alone ;)

Correct. 3:00pm PST, 6:00pm EST. Hope to see a nice turn out for the announcement and for documentation discussion.

I am loving Torque Advanced.
Of course, there are things I would like to see included in the future:

Must Haves:
- Decals - for both bullet-holes and footprints.
- Ragdoll animation.
- An easy to use physics system, allowing for some level of environment destruction.
- Web-plugin, allowing one to deploy a TGEA game over te interrnet - and host it in his/her own website.

Highly desirable:
- A complete example game, with everything one would expect from a complete game (e.g. save/load, weapon selection, etc...).
OR
- Game content, out-of-the-box: buildings, trees, stones, etc...

Hopefuly one day, but pobably very difficult to implement:
- Better vegetation - a more realistic one.

Very unlikely, but eventually will be supported:
- Procedural textures - including Proedural Normal Maps, etc...

Don't get me wrong: I love TGEA.
I am a big fan.
More than creating games, I love it for what it is: a tool that allows one to create AAA games, even though I do not have the talent or the time to create anny such game.
To me, it is more like having a very valuable watch, a work of art.
I am loving to have it, and am loving to support it - which I will keep doing.
