TGE features...

Hi,

I plan to make a game. As I don't want to take the time to make a 3D engine, I think that TGE is a really good thing for me.

However, I've some questions to be sure that it's a good thing for me to use it :

- in all the screenshots I see, the buildings look like to be uniformly enlighted... For example, the face opposed to the sunlight, the faces are enlighted the same way the other are (they would be less enlighted in reality). Is this an engine limitation or a work which is not totally finished ?

- is it possible to create some detailed buildings ? All the things I see are quite big scaled and there's no little detail... Is this an engine limitation or a choice from the deisngers not to draw to many polys at the screen ?

Thx for your answers ;)

1. Are you referring to shadows? Buildings in the map cast shadows, yes. The screenshots don't show this feature off particularly well, but itis in there and looks pretty good. :)

2. Tribes 2 didn't have much detail in the buildings, but as all the interiors are done in Worldcraft or Quark, the opportunity exists to make the interiors s detailed as you'd like.

I'm certainly not very clear... But that's not very easy to explain ;) I don't mean shadow of buildings on the floor, rather shadows on themselves. The faces that are exposed to the sun light would be more enlighten than those on the other side of the building... Am I more understandable ?? :p

For the other question, thx for the answer ;) I know Quark and Worldcraft and I'm glad that it's possible to make detailed models/levels too.

mmhhh really cool :)

Just remember that you can add improved versions of the features you mentioned by developing them.

The engine is provided as a stepping stone.

Cortex, the buildings are lit correctly. Take a look at screenshoot 4 on http://www.garagegames.com/index.php?sec=mg&mod=v12&page=screenshots, especially the bits near a light source.

Yes, you're right ;)

I just wanted to be sure of that because it isn't implemented in Realm Wars...
