4096x4096 textures?

I have a question. Can I use 4096x4096 textures in Torque? And what about 2048x2048, 8192x8192 and 16384x16384 textures??

You didn't specify the game engine, but it doesn't really matter... Common sense says don't do it. A 1024x1024 texture eats about 4Mb of memory... A 4096x4096 texture will eat over 64Mb.

I don't know what kind of system you're running, but mine would roll over and piss coolant if I asked it to render textures like the ones you mentioned.

Most modern video cards can handle a max of 4096x4096. Obsolete cards choke on anything over 256x256.

Why would you want a textures that large?

Thanks. I changed my mind. My model was so big.

I fell off my chair laughing.
:)

Useful info on memory-to-texture-size though.

@Gomes812

Even if you were to be able to use textures that big, you would never be able to actually see them at that resolution in game anyway. Also, you would be lucky to have 4 people be able to actually play your game, world wide!
