Unknown problem

I'm not really sure what is causing this. I'm not sure if it's shader related or not. If you'll notice in the picture, there are strange "shadows" that appear on the model. I've tried adjusting everything I can think of, and they still show up...always in the same area, no matter which way the model is facing.

If anyone has any idea how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

turning off specular, but the problem still persists.

I'm assuming so, but I dunno. I didn't build it, and don't know how to check to see if it is. I've tried turning off specular, but the problem still persists.

That's not specular related. That has to do with shadowing, and most likely is related to how the model was constructed. There is a number of things that it could be, including mismatched smoothing groups and poor Unwrapping. If you can get with the original modeler to see what's going on, that would probably be the best.-Dave Calabrese

Thanks Dave, the modeler hired for this piece says he is having problems duplicating the problem on his system. I don't know what went wrong, but it sure is driving me nuts. I have faith that he can fix the problem, if we can find out what it is. Thanks again!
