I just installed winXP pro... been looking forward to alil more stability than what I have had with 98 in the past years. I finally get it up and running after doing battle with my old HD, which for some reason didn't want to run the XP setup with out crashing everytime... (fixxed that problem good muhahaha ;)) .... and now i am enjoying it a bit.... i don't like all the dummie features everywhere... but i've been fixin that up as I go....
I go to start my copy of TGE and all i get is that dos box haulted.... nothing happens.... i tried reinstalling torque.... and the dos box pops up... then the screen flickers (full screen mode) and then it goes back to windows..... crashed... it won't start and all i get is.... "Send Error Report to Microsoft?" (like thats gonna help, lmao) ........ I am really pissed after all this work to get this new OS up and going that my main focus on the computer..... torque... doesn't wanna run...... any suggestions... i am really in a pinch here...

I've downloaded the latest drivers for my nVidia card and Torque is running well now.

Run TGE with the -console and -log options to generate a log of the console text that is generated. I had this problem too, turns out I had forgotten to reinstall OpenAL.

As for accessing event log, goto control panel then administractive tools. Then select Event Viewer.

Watchout for system restore, it will occassionally roll back drivers on minor errors. (Openal is a prime canidate for this.)As for accessing event log, goto control panel then administractive tools. Then select Event Viewer.

This is a known issue with new installations of WinXP. The ones included with WinXP don't work at all.

yeah and while you're updating those drivers may as well get the xp service pack 1 while you're at it for the windows update. It supposedly fixes alot of errors. Im using xp pro too and i haven't had any problems except for getting a few patches for things.
