I have no clue where this should belong but, is it possible to make a program that can identify different tones... example if I said "testing lala la la" the program would respond with "lalalala Hahaha Hi"

im not sure what your trying to do with this idea but it is definately feasible to have an application detect certain tones. I use a computer program to tune my guitar and it can detect the tone of each guitar string and be fairly accurate and i can use that to tune each string. I just hook the guitar up through my line-in on my sound card. Its calle digital guitar tuner i think, i only have the demo and i know there are several out there that do the same. As far as how it works i have no idea. To detect actual words from speech is done with programs like dragon speech something, i forget man. I have no idea how it works either but it shows that what you're trying to do is feasible.
