Okay, these are the error messages that show up in the dump.
Error::AllowEmptySubtrees enabled.
Error::AllowCrossedDetails disabled.
Error::AllowUnusedMeshes enabled.
Error::AllowOldSequences enabled.
Error::RequireViconNode disabled.
My model was created in Maya and then exported to an .Obj file which I imported into max. I made sure to make it fit the scale of the engine using the example character as reference and I made sure to collapse the stack, the model is not animated either. If the exporter was a person I would have punched it in the face right now.

oops forgot to mention that. Nothing shows up in the show tool. I even tried it without the texture so it would be a bright white model, but no dice.

Check to see if your mesh is on that list.

CHeck the bottom of the dump file. You should see the shape heirarchy. It will contain the contents of the shape file that you are trying to export.Check to see if your mesh is on that list.

Oh yeah, I can take the example models and export them fine, if I just make a cube and replace the example model with it, so it's got the exact same heirarchy and everything and then export that, it won't show in the show tool (but the example I exported does)

Does it have a trailing number? If the mesh has no trailing number, it is not associated with any detail level (defined by the detail marker detail 2), and is therefore not showing up. Does that make sense?
