Blender Or Houdini

Well As some of you know I just started using Blender I haven't gotten to far with the crazy program but I was just wondering if it is worth switching to the new Houdini or to just stay with blender? So If anyone has used Houdini or Blender or Both please post some suggestions! ty.

Man Houdini looks awesome but Ive had a lot of difficulties trying to get the free version so far still working on it though. ty

Please keep on trying to get Houdini to run. We are barely in to the first week of beta. Refer to the Side Effects open beta forum for more information on getting the licensing working.I can help out on this side as well.

Yea I got Houdini to run fine now I emailed the guys at side effects and they gladly helped. Now I just have to figure out how to make anything with it looks pretty intimidating. So if anyone knows of any good modeling Tutorials please! post a link or something TY.

Houdini is really complex, and I haven't had time to check out what it exports to. Does it do FBX export which can be imported by another tool... (Blender perhaps?)

Jeff, any recommendations for getting my content out of Houdini (I don't have the one with the DTS exporter, and as a for instance I also run OSX at times so I need a plausible workflow)Houdini is really complex, and I haven't had time to check out what it exports to. The free version of Houdini does not support exporting to other formats. The version with DTS export only allows DTS export.

I didnt feel like dishing out the hundred bucks so I stuck with blender and I'm sort of glad I did cause coming from milkshape blender is a breeze I can create way better models in half the time so Yea Blender is awesome! Houdini is still on the list of to try but right now I'll stick with blender until I go a little more professional. Still learning how to use Torque! Cant Script at all yet but learning.
