Inventoriable/usable item

Are there any good tutorials on how to create a .cs file for a model you created that will sort of walk you through assigning properties, making it able to be picked up and added to inventory, basic item stuff?
I've tried messing around with the health.cs file but haven't had any luck. I'm able to mount my items to the player, image or object without trouble. All my collision, detals, etc all show up fine. I'm just trying to get the hang of creating basic items ( other than the modelling).
Searching create item usually winds up with how to spawn the item in game from the console or something like that. I'm able to do that, my items just don't seem to have any properties, just bascially wind up a prop with collision.
