Programmer looking for a project team

by Andy Rollins · in Jobs · 05/19/2008 (5:07 pm) · 8 replies

Currently looking to work with a project team on developing a game based on Torque, I am licensed for TGE, TGEA and AFX so any combination of those would be fine.

I am not interested in developed an MMO so please do not contact me if that's what your team is trying to create, ideally looking to work on a small game that can be completed and added to my portfolio.

I work in IT professionally so know whats required to deliver projects, I have good knowledge of C++, torquescript and database technologies - where I am weaker is with Direct-X / Open-Gl but they aren't impossible. If anyone would be interested pleased drop me an email to redrolo@hotmail.com with some details on your project and team and hopefully we can work together.

I am not looking for paid work this is a hobby for me, what is important is delivering a product that I can feel proud of.

Well we had some contact before and before we could start working together you said that you are moving to a new place and that you will write back when you are done because there was way too much to do at that time. I said ok and waited. Then you vanished and I never got a reply back. -.-

Well anyway, we filled the position with someone else in the meantime and from what I saw you already wrote in a other part of the forum that you started on your own project now so I wish you all the best and I hope you will be successful with it.

Antonios - not quite sure why you've posted as you haven't had much to say but that aside I'll answer you anyway, since posting back in December when we spoke things personally have been very hectic and I've had no chance to do any game development, this is a hobby for me so it was put aside until I had the time to focus on it again. No point joining a team to sit and do nothing as you haven't the time, hence why I didn't get back to you or indeed others and now 5 months on I would presume each of those teams has filled positions.

The only responses I was getting to this advert were for MMORPG's even though I've stated here that I'm not interested in developing one, hence the post in the team building forum to see whether there were others that wanted to develop an FPS. Since such time I've been approached and joined a team developing an FPS.

I hope that the development is going very well on Gates of Eternity certainly the information you shared with me before all looked very professional and like it had the makings of a good title.

As mentioned above I am no longer looking to join a team as I've already teamed up with a group.

Gates of eternity is not a mmorpg and I would never even try to create one to say the least.
Even I would have tons of ideas for one.

Thanks for the compliments too, GoT goes very well and we are already in the testing phase of our alpha build. :)

Anyway, the reason why I responded was because I found it weird that you just dissappeared at first and then you just appeared in the forums starting to look for something else without getting at least in touch in between or saying what happened at all. :/

Good luck with your FPS and your new team. :)

Thanks Antonios, I know GoE isn't an MMO... I meant that the responses I was getting to this post were mostly all from people developing MMO's, hence why I looked at starting a team to develop something that's not an MMO.

Great work with GoE then can't wait to see the finished product and what you guys have done.

Sorry if you were expecting me to come back to you, as I mentioned its been a hectic time for me (and not a particularly good one) and I simply just didn't think that any of the teams I had been talking to would still have been expecting me to come back as I hadn't joined any of them, my appologies that you were expecting me to.

It's ok!
At least nothing bad happened to you and you still can be in the development scene no matter if its with our team or a other one. :)
I'm sure that you will do a good work in your team and I wish you all the best in your project.

Hello,

I've got a new and exciting project. What we are going to do is create a new downloadable game that is much like the chat community http://www.imvu.com/. We will be using Torque Game Engine (TGE) http://www.garagegames.com/products/torque/tge/, FaceGen http://www.facegen.com/ and will be needing some rooms designed similar to those found on Turbo Squid http://www.turbosquid.com/.

If you have any experience or desire to work on a games project please contact me right away. If you know other developers with experience using these tools or graphics people experienced creating meshes have them contact me. We will be requesting examples of previous work.
