I'd center the word and lessen the amount of pink--maybe make it look more like it was radiating plasma. Either that, or go with something even simpler. Right now, my eyes are drawn to the plasma and not the logo.

Something you may want to keep in mind is where to place the logo. The way this logo looks it can only fit in a few spots, it doesn't have much scalability, it won't look good with all kinds of backgrounds etc.

Work on making it more self-contained.

A good logo is a logo that can be vectorized. This can't. A good logo also stands on its own, yours doesn't.
Its like Max says, it would look cool as a forum signature... but a logo.. nah...

Just a few suggestions to start you off on the right foot.

Use a white or black background, white is more professional but alot of companies are going with black now days.

Start with a normal screen resolution as your working space such as 640x480, bigger is better because you can scale down, but rember when you scale the text will get smaller so if you go big keep the text at a good size.

Place your logo just above the center of your working area, this is where the human eye falls.

Leave negative space around your logo, you don't want to fill the whole work space up. ( negative space will be your background color )

Stay away from effects, styles and filters. Be artistic and use your drawing skills to make your logo unique.

If you have a program to make a vector logo use it, ie. Illustrator, and Freehand. vector images don't loose quality when scaling. They can also be used to make t-shirts, stickers, hats ... along with all your web and in game graphics.

Good luck, and post what you come up with
