Can't use export in constructor

I'm using 3ds max 6. I downloaded Max 6.0-8.0 plug-in from http://garagegames.com/developer/torque/artist/ and followed http://tdn.garagegames.com/wiki/DTS/OldDoc/Introduction to the letter.
The shape schematic matches exactly, it exports with no error.
My problem is if I try to use the simpleshape (i named it testshape, simpleshape, pleasgodletitworkshape, etc) by clicking File>Import Static Mesh>(choose my file, click open), i get a crash. It will import the playershape.dts file as reference, and as static mesh, so I assume Constructor is fine.
What may I provide to help someone help me diagnose this error?
If I try to load the shape in game it issues an item number as normal, but it's basically null. There is no object, although I can move the little orb with the id number around.

Charlie - are you using the 1.04 version that is available on the TDN page? There were some fixes to DTS files in this version.

I checked and it says 1.0.3, but I did try 1.0.4, and after installing the update I couldn't launch COnstructor at all. I'll try again.

Yup, i followed the instructions exactly. downloaded the 1.0.4 patch, extracted to constructor directory overwriting only the old files, and it crashes immediately after launch.

Are you on a Mac? Some folks have had this issue on a mac. If you haven't done it already, I recommend to do a fresh reinstall, followed by an update.

No, not on a mac. I am on a Windows PC, with XP home. I've done about 4 reinstalls actually.

Can you email the console log to me?

Thanks Jaimi, I emailed it a few minutes ago.

I was also told to try loading it or any of the static refereneces in ShowTool, they load in there. I have no idea what I'm doing or not doing correctly. Between the models I've made and some I've tried to download off the web, I have yet to get one to open in Constructor.
If I can somehow provide more info please feel free to ask.
