Looking for possibilities at a PAID position in a funded startup or established game development house.
Primarily looking to get into the game field, be around games and creative people, sick of stuffy offices.
Qualifications:
While I am new to Torque I have the background and the motivation to become a top programmer in a quick amount of time, I am finding it remarkably similar to languages I already know and am making great strides in picking up the language.
Previously I have done
Python experience, Networked ISO engine in PyGame for a small game for a previous client.
7 years professional PHP/MySQL experience including mysql certification. I have spoken at IBM on the topic of creating PHPGTK apps (and games) as well as having written several tutorials for zend.com.
7 years linux sysadmin experience with Linux as a desktop.
4 years networking at a class A datacenter in New Orleans, LA.
3 years ASP experience (though I am woefully out of date with ASP)
1.5 year rails experience
decent exposure to C# (mono in linux) development.
experience in C, PERL, Bash and the like
Mostly, looking for a dev house that does not mind someone who needs to consult a book once in a while or ask a question while in the process of picking up the code and self-learning.
Additionally, living in Manhattan is not cheap so please only serious offers that are located in Manhattan at a physical address.
Thanks

A helpful hint or two:
1) Fill out your profile. I realize your new to the GG community, but people check your profile out a lot more than you would think, and that's a good place to put your skills list, and links or screens to your past work/demos.
2) Participate in the community: It raises your reputation as someone who helps, is motivated, and knows what he's doing. Not that you don't know what you're doing, but, you know what I mean.
3) Demos or minigames that demo your programming/scripting expertise can get you far with people looking for people to work for them.
Hope that helps you out. Good Luck!
