This might not belong here but I'm new so please bare with me.
I would like to get into the game making business and I want to start on the 3D side. Can you please give me suggestions on which 3D software program to buy and why.
Not Maya though, too expensive.

I think the general opinion here is Milkshape 3d, which is great software, good support and super cheap. There are some free modeling tools out there, Like wings3d, and others..By the way, you can find the URL for all these programs in the Resources page here at garagegames.com.

Does Milkshape 3D export directly into the Torque engine

Torque comes with a Milkshape exporter plugin. So, you can do all your modelling/animation etc. in Milkshape and export it to Torque's native format.
