But no one has ever told Why it was put there and what it means.

Instead of doing that, a wise man starts a new player class for himself extending from GameBase, which has essentially the minimum you need to get started on building, say, a dragon class that only flies about and breathes fire.
Also, KillerBunny likes the taste of human flesh. Don't delve too deep

It's really popular to extend ShapeBase or Player, which have become gargantuan classes that include everything from normal running about, to stealthing, to chicken molesting, to ejecting shell casings. Extending this is just asking for a universe of pain - you're *starting* somewhere that's hideously bloated.Instead of doing that, a wise man starts a new player class for himself extending from GameBase, which has essentially the minimum you need to get started on building, say, a dragon class that only flies about and breathes fire.
