Problems with Radeon 7500

I'm having problems with my Radeon 7500 video card. I get random giant polygons appearing. Please see the attached screen shot.

I see this problem on Tribes 2 and on all the sample apps (including RealmWars) when I am in OpenGL mode. I don't see it in Direct3D, but D3D is really slow.
I've tried installing older Radeon Drivers as was suggested by: http://www.planettribes.com/tribes2/troubleshooting/#artifacts
but that didn't help.
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I really want to get going on my game development, but this is a major problem for me.

I've seen the same exact thing with a mobility 32MB Radeon 7500 card in a laptop I use. ATI doesn't have drivers to download for laptops so I got those from HP/Compaq. It didn't help tho. I haven't had that problem on a couple older crappy cards I've tested or other GeForce3 cards.

There's another thread here about Radeon problems, like that. The best way to make it work would seem to be to have the textured fog turned on. Some Torque games (and Tribes2) have a setting under options, but others you will need to find it in... preferences.cs (I think).Eric Forhan MRT

I have had XP Professional and XP Home, and now XP Home SP1 on the laptop. No problems with any games what so ever graphics wise.
