IndieGamesCon '02 - Roomates Wanted

by Jay Moore · in General Discussion · 09/18/2002 (10:03 pm) · 9 replies

I understand that camping in November in the Pacific Northwest isn't everyones idea of fun - Mark Frohnmayer is talking about allowing tents to get pitched in his back yard and offering a long extension cord.

To coordinate people finding roomates I've started this forum post - it may be easiest if you can coordinate this among yourselves before making reservations.

We may have individuals who are not 18 or older who want to come to IGC and it maybe they need room with someone who is - although a credit card is only required at the Ramada to hold a room past 6pm.

Going to IndieCon (woohoo !!! :)...
I get in on the 31st, leave on the 4th, so I will be reserving a room at the Ramada, or another hotel if necessary, for that entire period.

Post here, or mail me : jiuq@users.sourceforge.net

If you're connecting in San Fran to get to Eugene on United Airlines on the 31st, in the afternoon, there's a chance we're on the same flight ;)

Looking forward to putting faces and manners on all those people who eat up so much of my time with their contributions to this community !!! ;) (this is a Good Thing !!! 8p)

Later,

Hey. Similar to the previous post, but I'm just staying on the evenings of the 1st and 2nd-- just Friday and Saturday night.

Normally, I'll be on UA 1064, leaving SF at 15:40, getting in Eugene at 17:05... So the Samhain (sp ??) partying will have to wait for our arrival in Eugene...
If someone wants to share a room, speak up, or if you have already booked and need a roomy, do the same, so I don't book a room for nothing, first thing in the morning tomorrow (EDT, GMT -0500), just after doing the IndieCon registration bit (yeah, I know, call me crazy for buying a plane ticket before my registration, but hey... ;))
Evening, Night all,

I have it booked from October 31st to November 3rd, inclusive, as I only fly back on the 4th...
mail me @ jiuq@users.sourceforge.net

Note : to whomever might want to share the room, it doesn't have to be from the 31st to the 3rd, ie if you need a room for only 3 of the nights, no probs ! ;)

Little note : changing my reservation at this point is useless, as the normal prices for a single room reservation at the Ramada for that weekend are over the price we're paying for a two double bed room : that's because we have a group deal, and the higher prices are because of that home game Jay mentioned...
Note : you might reserve a room on Ramada.com, and find that the price you end up paying could be lower (or even higher) than what the website says at the moment of reservation...
If I had changed for a single double bed room, it would still have cost me 62 US a night, under our group deal (thanks to Jay and GG for that).
So, I will keep that room at least until the moment I show up at the Ramada on the 31st : if by then, no one has expressed interest, and they can accomodate me with a cheaper room, I'll take it.
Consequently, if anyone wants to be able to pay 31 bucks a night for a double bed to themselves, but sharing a room with a nice fellow (that would be me ;)), speak up in the next few days or weeks, or to put another way : don't wait until the last minute, because, one, as Jay mentioned, there's a home game (college football, isn'it ?) that weekend, and hotels will be full. Second, as I said, if I can let go of the room for a cheaper one when I get there, I will. Simple, ain't it ? :)

Anyhow, sorry for the amount of text on from my part on this topic, but that's the last of it.

If you want to discuss or arrange the sharing of the room, contact me at jiuq@users.sourceforge.net
See ya all at IndieCon,

I have found a roommate for my whole stay at the Ramada.
Consequently, I cannot promise to be able to help anyone who has no lodging, since I'm no more the sole occupant.
8 Days to the plane trip, see ya all very soon !!
