Getting Started

Hi, new here and need some help getting started. I purchased TGEA INDIE. My C++ background is on UNIX workstations, so I'm having problems with the usage and "lingo" concerning PC compilers.
I have Visual Studio C++ 2005 and 2008 Express editions. Which one would be best to use with TGEA or is there a better solution, even if it needs to be purchased (I'd rather not spend the money now, if I don't have to)?
I though I saw a "getting started -- compiling TGEA" but I can't find that reference. What I find takes me to the Torque Shader Engine and mentions downloading DirectX9 Oct. 2004, etc.
Anyway, I was surprised there wasn't a little more explicit documentation -- I get the feeling a lot is assumed that one used TGE before? Or I'm not looking in the right place.
So any help or pushes in the right direction would be appreciated.

Those instructions say to use the Oct 2006 SDK, but you could probably use the latest one, I don't think the instructions have been updated in a while. Oh, and if you find something referring to Torque Shader Engine (TSE), don't worry, that used to be the name for TGEA.
