Supposedly nVidia is going to release *official* FreeBSD drivers

This means accelerated 3d under FreeBSD... Let's hope they follow through. I can't wait to have a TGE FreeBSD client running. :-)

There are two sides to this story, though. A guy I was working with to get FreeBSD nVidia drivers awhile back told me that this is just lip-service from nVidia and that they have no real plans on releasing them. I'm hoping he's wrong. :-)

The 'FreeBSD nVidia Driver Initiative'. There's always been the stumbling block of RE'ing the hardware because of the closed source nVidia binary "stub" to the Linux driver. Apparently nVidia has had the FreeBSD drivers working for awhile now.There are two sides to this story, though.
