1. A full copy of trueSpace5 - $199 value!
2. Two video courses, "NURBS Modeling" and "Architectural Modeling" - over 4 hours of video training - $159 value!
3. Membership in the trueSpace Forums
4. Access to a community made up of 3D users, from hobby users to professionals, and Caligari staff!
:/

So you should get TS.

TrueSpace is their full product. GameSpace is their game-oriented product, which has a stripped down featureset. All of the plugins that are for GameSpace will work with TrueSpace. So you should get TS.

Does the torque plug in goes back to TS 5?

I didn't think they even sold 5, but I guess they do that to get you hooked on their software. I wonder what the upgrade price to 7.5 is.

I don't think so. I think GS was based off of Version 6. You should check the forums at Caligari to be sure, though.I didn't think they even sold 5, but I guess they do that to get you hooked on their software. I wonder what the upgrade price to 7.5 is.

GameSpace is based on trueSpace 6 (think of it as a Lite version, without NURBS and whatnot). Bones in 5 and 6 are so broken it's not even funny (well, it actually is funny until it happens to your work). trueSpace 7.5, honestly, is trueSpace 7.5 and trueSpace 6 combined with a "bridge" between the two "modes" to translate the scene. The "Rosetta" mode is very fast and has very nice bells and whistles, but not as usable as the "legacy" mode, as far as I'm concerned, since switching between the two will lose some undo information, depending on the tool used, and it doesn't look like plugins work in Rosetta mode. As time goes on, tS7.5 is supposed to migrate the tS6 legacy tools over to the Rosetta side of things, and they are supposedly going to open their formats again so plugins can come out, but if I hold my breath on that, I'll probably die...

the current version of GameSpace. For Torque modeling, GameSpace has what you need. The extra
stuff in TrueSpace is primarily for full blown animations that will be rendered to video.
So some of the answer to your question depends on what you intend to be doing with it.
I've also seen a post that says that Torque Constructor is best for DIFs, while many of the other
programs out there like GameSpace are best suited for DTS models. So far I tend to agree with that.
On my desktop right now I have,
- TrueSpace 7.5
- GameSpace
- MilkShape
- Blender
- 3D World Studio
- Torque Constructor
Since I have the long standing relationship with TrueSpace I find the others very difficult to navigate.
Anyway, for $39.95 it's still an excellent deal.
Looking at the site I also see that they have a TrueSpace7.5 bundle for $395, and GameSpace is $299.
Considering the high cost of many packages out there, that's also a really good deal. Especially for what
the Caligari packages can do.

I'm considering the alternatives (such as blender) and I find the MAP exporter to be really tempting.

You might be interested in this : a gameSpace 1.6 group buy. The more people buy the program, the lower the price gets for everyone. More information on the pageI'm considering the alternatives (such as blender) and I find the MAP exporter to be really tempting.
