TorqueX 3D and *.txscene

Just started messing with Torque. I was wondering how the .txscene files (desertLevel.txscene for example) were created. I see the TXB can load those files but nothing is displayed. I'm guessing TXB is only for 2D scene editing. I'm hoping those txscene files were hand made:)
