Is there an issue with the website?

Any idea whether akamai is actually working on fixing this or are they just saying they are and not actually doing squat about the problem since after 5 months you guys are still using them despite this problem.

I've been having this problem off and on, luckily I was able to get on and finally check the forums today and found the origin-www workaround that seems to be working well for me. However I can't get onto TDN at all. Is there a workaround for TDN?

Some people are working fine with TDN and others are not.

As to why we're still using them, I'm not sure since I'm not on the business side, but since we are still using them (despite the fact that it is happening to a splinter of the traffic to the site) all I can think is that it is a number of contractual obligations. But, as I said, I'm not on that side of it so I really have no clue on the whys and wherefores.

Is there a workaround to get onto TDN or not? Because if there isn't I'm going to have to find a different engine to use for my game.

Are the guys in charge over at GG even aware of this problem and the loss in business it is likely causing?

Not that I know of. I'm not sure what the people who were having the problems are doing to get to TDN. I know that some have expressed that the hosts file worked for it in their case, but most of the people I've talked to haven't had it work.

The hosts file workaround works for me in accessing TDN. I added:

216.116.32.49 www.garagegames.com

to the end of my hosts file and, so far, the access problems have gone away.

Adding the entries for garagegames into the hosts file did not work for me at all. But I installed Tor (with privoxy and torbutton), started routing my traffic through that, and now I'm able to log in. This is a really nasty problem. If other solutions don't work, try Tor. It should work, unless you're unlucky enough to end up with a circuit endpoint upstream of one of the affected Akamai nodes.

Alright I only had time to skim this thread,, so far.

Suffice it to say I've been getting this error twice a day for the last week or two, and frequency seems to be increasing, though my usage of the site is also. Is there any useful error-logging i can do at this point?

Check out David's post from April 28th for instructions on reporting the errors. Then check out Jon Fernback's post from April 4th for the best workaround for the issue.

Thanks Scott, I missed the april 28th post, but I've printed it out now.

Work around seems to be working for now, but at this point this issue should be resolved.

Just a brief update. I called Akamai Sales last week and got a call back from GG's 'Account Relations Manager' there within one-business day. We briefly discussed this issue and I showed him this thread which speaks for it'self.

He called me back again an hour later. Some research showed there was a trouble-ticket in February but it had timed-out pretty quickly. He had been aware of a "minor connectivity issue" about that time, and there is a proposed fix just to make sure it doesn't reoccur in the future. The Akamai Rep. had no idea of the severity of this issue, and it's 'unresolved' status. He was blindside and appalled by this thread, which he should be.

The Akamai Rep considered this problem to be of the highest severity, and said he would get to the bottom of it as quickly as possible. Hopefully he will follow through. I found Akamai surprisingly responsive, and hopefully this will be fixed quickly now that it is back on the radar!

Interesting. You seem to have gotten further than anyone else did.

Yeah. I got my first notice about it in almost a month today. I was hoping it was fixed. :(

TDN still doesnt work. Annoying. Seriously find a new web host for GG guys. PLEASE.

btw: I'm trying to get a link to help a new user and I can't access it to give him the info.

@ mb

If you haven't yet, try the host file edit. I've been able to access the site and TDN just fine since I did it. Though I know it hasn't worked for everyone.

Thanks Scott. Using the IP seems to work at the moment. :)

Looks like the host workaround stopped working this morning. Did the IP address change from 216.116.32.49 to something else? Or is the server just down? All my ping requests to that IP timeout now. (Worked fine last night)

I also still have the off again on again akamai issues. Obviously its working ok right this moment, but wasnt 20 minutes ago.

I'm still getting this off and on, having to use the IP address to use the site, like now.

I've had about 2-3 people in the last month have this problem (or at least report it), so I'm hoping that Akamai has it ironed out mostly.
