It's actually very smart, if there is a black market then there is demand so why not funnel that demand back to the company?

people who have lost their jobs, their homes, and everything because they poured all
of their money into this stupid thing to gain a high level, only to be struck down by
someone who had more money to spend.
It's basically sanctioned cheating, and I find the whole thing disgusting.
