Just maps

Hi everyone. I'm a Macintosh user and I'm thinking about making a sci.fi FPS (mostly indoor scenaries). I'm not trying to make a superb game, just some cool maps and adding good sfx and music soundtrack (I'm musician). I have no idea about programing anything :( , in fact, I just would like to make a "mod" (in mac platform is not easy to find game editors, there's no editors for Quake III, UT...) So, my idea is just (using macintosh) to create some interesting maps, character models and weapons (also make an interface) without any programing. Can I use Torque engine to do that? What do u recomend me?. I don't have any commercial interest for this project, just want to do it for myself in my free time to see my 3d ideas into a game.
Thanks:
SSB

You will need to do at least some scripting, and I'm fairly sure that you will hit a spot where you need to do some coding, too.

Interiors and shapes (players, weapons, etc.) will probably be your main problem due to the unavailability of tools. I know the problem, I'm a Linux user and don't have all the tools I'd want. :-(

My personal suggestion would be to join a team that does something into the direction you have in mind and concentrate on doing their soundtrack, and leaving all the coding and other bother to the others.

Hi, I don't know a thing about Mac computers, but I do know I need someone to do maps and models for my project.

I haven't been getting into torque much over the summer because of outside work needed to be done around the homestead. Another week or two that will come to an end, and I will be getting back to torque full swing again.

If you want to see your stuff in a game show me what you can do as far as mapping/modeling/music/sounds goes (dm or single player) The NoESCape project has no limitations on settings as the player will be traveling into the future as well as the past and all points in between. That way members can create what they feel most comfortable with, in the range of medieval to sci-fi.

You can check out what I been doing for the past couple years at www.planetquake.com/noescape/.

With the recent license's agreement changes I have decided to redo my site and how I release the episodes of NoESCape (more details soon).

Let me know if this interests you.

Wait for the think tanks map editor!

...

Anyway, I don't think there is much for mac in the way of map editors, there may some modelling programs.

I had a quick look around for mac map editors and found this:
http://www.planetquake.com/mmep/ is a Map editor for Quake 3 on Mac, that may help you.

You could of cause get "Virtual PC" that way you can get QuArk, maxs3d, milkshape3d and the lot!<-- if you install Windows under it, else you have Falcon problems, but still better then mac I'd say!

Do you know if it costs anything?

It's part of Torque/the TT engine. This is the wrong forum for this discussion, please move it to the ThinkTanks area.
