TGB 1.6.0 Game Startup Error

by Carpenter Software · in Torque Game Builder · 01/09/2008 (5:15 pm) · 6 replies

I try to RUN a game but I get the following:

Game Startup Error

'initializeProject' function could not be found.
This could indicate a bad or corrupt common directory for your game.

The Game will now shutdown because it cannot properly function

I just downloaded the latest Mac version TGB 1.6.0.

IS there a work around for this?

Operating System:
Mac OS X version 10.5.1
Model Name: Mac Pro
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz

(added)
I had used this version on another machine (Mac G5) and I had no problem!?

(added)
Weird: I just downloaded TGB 1.5.1 and The installer crashes upon starting up!?
Using the same Operating System as mentioned above.

Same problem here running 1.6 on a Macbook Pro with 10.5.1.
1.5.1 ALSO crashes on START-UP!

As a Mac user of Torque products, I'm really getting tired of show-stopping bugs. I spent good money and when I see unanswered posts like this, I feel quite ripped-off.

I haven't used it on Leopard because of issues with FCP that have finally (hopefully) been ironed out. I probably won't upgrade for another couple of months until I'm sure. I do know that the 1.5.1 installer was not Leopard compatible, but I don't know why it is having difficulties on 1.6. I have seen other users having difficulties on iMacs, but not on MBP's. I have a dual-G5, but I haven't upgraded to 1.6 on it. I'll try to get to it sometime Sunday or Monday since I'm going out of town most of the weekend. That way I can at least try to help on some of these questions (though I haven't had many problems in the past on my G5 or Mac Mini).

I think I discovered the source of my errors. If the project name contains a space, the game will not run. I've done a few tests and I'm 99% sure this is the case. Hope this helps anyone else experiencing this error.

Jamie is correct.

Here's a thread confirming the error.
