Cannot create a new project in C# 2005 w/ XNA templates

by Eric Lewin · in Technical Issues · 01/07/2008 (9:31 pm) · 3 replies

I have the latest version of Visual C# 2005 Express with XNA 2.0 installed, and just installed Torque X, and whenever I try to create a new project using one of the Torque X templates, I get an error stating that the file cannot be opened because "The project type is not supported by this installation"

Any ideas what could cause this? I am running the compiler in administrator mode on vista, the compiler is Visual C# 2005 Express Edition 8.0.50727.867 with XNA Game Studio 2.0 build 2.0.11128.1, .NET framework 2.0.50727, Torque X 1.0.5.1

(other XNA/C# templates open just fine, and I have already tried reinstalling Torque X)

Thanks

You will have to use the 1.1 Refresh version of XNA. TorqueX is not XNA 2.0 compatible yet.

I've got the same problem. Is XNA 2.0 compatibility currently being worked on? My team has a concept demo in the XBLA approval process at microsoft and we were very interested in developing the full game with the Torque X engine. I know you can't promise a date, but is there like an estimated time frame that 2.0 should me compatible?
Spring, Summer, Fall 08?

Thank you

I know that it is currently being worked on but I have no idea where 2.0 compliance stands as of now.
