Tge Or Tgb?

I'm pretty new to scripting, I know a tiny bit, and I was wondering how hard TGE is, or if I should get TGB. I would like TGE, but if it will be too hard, I'll take TGB. Opinions?

Ok, that makes sense. But really, how hard is it for someone with a little scripting experience to get the hang of TGE? I'm pretty good with computers, too.

Download the demo. Look through the recently opened documentation. And explore. See how far the demo takes you. That's the best (and easiest) recommendation I can make.
The Torque for Teens book demo includes the FPS starter kit.
If you want the others, downloadTGE 1.4.2

There are a lot of people who have entered the TGE arena with little or no experience and done very well. There are people who entered the same arena and now curse TGE and GarageGames. It's nearly impossible to answer that question because the spectrum of users is so wide.Download the demo. Look through the recently opened documentation. And explore. See how far the demo takes you. Okey dokey. I've already done most of that, so I think I'll go for TGE. I think I'd be able to handle it. Thanks for the advice!

@Fredulus, there is a resource around that shows how to do a simple 2d game with TGE. It may be out of date, but it'd probably be a good start if you wanted to do something like that.

Well actually, just download the demos and get the one that you find easier.

The demos don't work for mac, they won't install. Except the one that is just a walkthrough. I have a Mac.

The buiild of TGB 1.6 just came out, but the Mac build hasn't been released yet. There was a problem with the bitrock installers (and numerous other applications across the OSX spectrum, sadly) under Leopard.

There is a platformer kit available for TorqueX, but it can be used for *much* more than platformers. The kit supplies you with the core code and a number of reusable components as a platformer framework. Kind of like the adventure kit does for action-adventure games.
