DTS origin problem

I've got this weird problem where I'll make an object in max bigger than it needs to be, then scale it down. I'll center all the pivots and center the object in max. Then when I export the shape and load it into Show Tool it will be rotating around a point far away from the object. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I read somewhere that "reset Xform" could solve some problems occuring when exporting a scaled object from Max.

Another tip (that I've not used myself though) is mentioned at this page, and is called "the box trick".

Hope some of this helps...

I've used the box trick before. It works really well.
I also learned why your scaled object does that. (Learned it from Ted Boardman at the FRC championship this year.) Try this: Make a box. Now shift-clone that box a little ways over so you have two identical boxes. Select your scale gizmo and resize one of them. Take a look at the properties of both boxes. They will be exactly the same...dispite both boxes being different sizes. Why is that? For some odd reason, when you use a scale, it doesn't include it in the modifier stack. Using "Reset Xform" allows the computer to apply any and all scaling you've done on the stack, so it's included. The box trick does the same thing, but with more steps (but in my opinion, it works better). Ted basically just said to put a piece of tape over where your scale tool is, because it should never be used for that reason. Unless it is an editable poly/mesh and your only scaling one section (or selected the whole thing in one section), use the available parameters in the modifiy panel (length, width, height, radius, etc.)

After applying reset xform, collapse stacks.
