Hi I'm new around here ........

I'm new to the world of online games making and production.

I've had an idea for a game, but I am not skilled enough to create it myself, nor do I have enough money to implement the project.

So my question is this:
Are there any games companies which will accept ideas for games, and then give the person who came up with the idea a small percentage of the profits.

That may sound like a dumb question, but I'm just curious.

I hope I posted in the right section.

Thanks

Pretty tough to get a game made by just pitching it to a company. I've only heard about this happening a few times and that was with the guy having at least part of the game developed beforehand. You can try getting a team together, but that might be difficult to do unless you can contribute more then just an idea. Here's the other catch. How do you present your idea without having someone else swipe it? Maybe you can briefly mention the idea without giving away too many details. It could spark some interest in people looking for a team to join. Hope that helps a little.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news... but I really dont think that would ever happen, companies have writers, so they probably wouldnt be interested in your ideas.... on the other hand, if your game is incredibly awesome and creative, and you have the whole design and story completely written out in detail very clearly, who knows, they might go for it.... on the other hand, there is the chance that they could try and steel it.... in that case what I would do is print out a copy of whatever you show them (or burn it to a cd) then mail it to yourself (maybe even a few copies)... this is a handy little trick in case anyone ever tries to steal your intelectual property... then if it ever goes to court or something, you have sealed proof that it is yours :)

Thanks for letting me know. I thought it was a long shot.

Anyway, looks like I'll have to learn C++ and then assemble a team, which'll probably take me a year or so to do, but it'll be worth it.

Once again thanks for your views.
