Question for those who have a liscense

by Dustin Mullen · in General Discussion · 11/24/2007 (1:15 pm) · 5 replies

Is it worth buying the license just to gain access to certain parts of the forums that tell you how to script certain things? I thought about buying a license, but I only need it for one thing that I can't complete. That is the team scoreboard by Tek0. I'm not really sure I want to spend 100.00 just to find out the answer to one question. I'm sure there are other tidbits of information that could be useful if I buy the license, but I probably won't be using them.
What are your thoughts?

When you buy the license, you get access to the C++ source code. Also, you cannot publish a title without one.

Well in my opinion the second best move I made was buying the license, the first being then buying AFX pack. As to whether you personally would gain from buying a license would really depend on where you want to go for the future, yes sure right now you only have one requirement but will your game development days end there?

Gaining access to the engine code allows for lots of different scope, not mention thousands of resources that can add that little extra to your game.

For the forum access itself it's probably not worth the license - but the resources are a different matter and well worth it just my opinion

It appears that this is a script only resource. (Team Scoreboard which refers to Teams Implementation (no engine source code mods) Is there anything against the EULA posting it for Dustin?

Nope. As long as there isn't any C++ code involved. While the documentation has been opened, the resources are still often restricted because of the sheer time involved in going through them, I believe.

It would be much appreciated if he/someone could post it for me.
