Names on battle field

One thing that took alot of fun out of tribes was the fact that no matter how stealthy you where, you would almost always have a big red triangle and text over youre head. This made cool aspects of the game (hiding in trees, lurking in the shadows, spying from afar) pretty much useless, and forced everyone too just run in there and shoot things. An easy way to resolve this would be to have no labels for opposing units (a good exception is if they are in the proximity of 5 feet of you)This would make things like flanks, shock attacks and night fights work.

On an unrealated topic:
and i hated the spinfusor in tribes, nobody ever considered the other weapons.

Eh... I don't really enjoy T2. There's too much movement for me. I like being able to wear down an opponent rather than hit and kill him in two shots from sheer luck.

But anyway... The triangles have a few purposes in RW. For one thing, let's say that someone is sniping everyone behind a lot of foliage. Pretty lame, eh? If you just look over there, you won't see anything, but in reality, you could probably make out some movements. Putting markers over everyone all the time is a no-no. Those markers are essentially the game's way of saying, "I see this target." If your character can't make out the location of a target, then he shouldn't be marked. It should work the same as say, a cloak. Standing has its own stealth variables, as does running and jumping, etc. They all lower or raise your detectability. The markers should be the measure of this dectability. Basically, they're very cheap sensors. That works out since the senses are the most basic sensors in existence.

yes, that is true. however, any game manufactured by the torque engine in almost always going too be a FPS, there for it is relying on youre own sense of awareness. In the case of the triangels, it is youre avatar that is doing the work, you might as well have an auto aim, as that is not in breach of youre regards of the triangels. And if their is snipers in a concealed position, they wont be able to hide much longer then one shot (remember, were using arrows, not long rifels), and the torque engine does not allow for much vegitation, there is usually going to be only one or two hiding spots. And because a snipers attention is usually some distance from his hide, an lurker\sneak\nixon can almost always get em before he gets more than one frag! and if there is still some cheapness in cover being too good for sharp sooters, then put streak trails on their arrows, and because we are using bows, the arrows will practically never hit their target if they fly from a string thats in the distance

is it just me or does my spelling suck today?

Markers are bad.. Yes that person could be sniping from the bushes but if the team don't figure it out they deserve to die horribly, markers over your own teammates, but not over the enemy.
