Newbie needs help

Appologies in advance if this is the wrong forum, but I couldn't seem to find one dedicated to TGB. Anyway, just getting started with attempting to develop games, and I'm working my way through the Torque Game Builder tutorials.
Step 1: Did the Behavior Mini Tutorial, and it runs fine. Great - made a crab looking sprite run away from the mouse. Nice. BTW - The build output exe runs fine too.
Step 2: Trying the MyFishDemo demo, and got it all set up to the point where the fish is supposed to swim
across the screen, and presto - it won't run. It Builds, but the outputed exe won't run either. In both cases, whether running from the IDE or from the stand alone EXE, same problem - it crashes without ever starting, and windows gives the obligatory offer of sending the error report to Microsoft.
I have the feeling that since one project runs fine, and the other doesn't (regardless of what I try), that I've missed something so very basic that only a newb would miss it.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
