I just downloaded TGEA, and trying to start anything...

So a while back I played around on this book version of TGE, making some simple tutorials with it. But now I am at a loss with TGEA.

I bought it and all, and I can't even figure out how to get into the world editor, or any other editor. I understand from some thread that I can start to modify the water demo, but how do I enter this demo into a an editor and such. Oh, and I have downloaded constructor, is it this I need to play around with? How to get the water demo as a project into constructor then?

Sorry for the rambling, but my mind is not clear at the moment. I'm very confused.

I just basically need advice on how to setup the most utter simplest setting with some model walking the terrain. =)

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: So I had to press F11. I needed to read back on the book info and figure it out... Maybe have this mentioned somewhere for new users, perhaps, maybe?

Use of the world editor is exactly the same as TGE--not saying that it should be documented, just that as a TGE user it should have been the first thing that you thought of. ATLAS terrain must be changed in an external program. I would recommend looking up Alienforce's TGEA kit conversions for fps.starter and racing.starter.

TGEA is a *much* more complex engine, without beginner documentation for using the engine. Fortunately, most of the beginner documentation with TGE will work with TGEA as well.

Constructor is for making interiors. It is not for world editing in TGEA. If you need to build a castle, you use Constructor (think of the towers in TGE's stronghold mission). If you need to build models, you will need Max or Maya or Lightwave or Blender or any 3D app that exports DTS/DSQ files. Just like TGE.

The alienforce kits will help you feel more at home.

Thanks for the reply! =)

Most of what you said I did already know though... The starter kit conversion would seem a good resource. Thanks!
