Max files

What programs can edit *.max files, and *.psk files? I have found a content pack that I would like, but it only includes *.max files and *.psk. I want to be able to edit the files, but I don't have the budget to get a really expensive editor like 3ds max, and I have no clue what editor uses *.psk files. So, if anyone could help me, I'd apprecieate it.

Do you know what *.psk's are?

formats, and it's difficult to find a reliable way to get it into DTS and DIF formats without
losing a LOT.
I have yet to find anything, except maybe to find someone with 3DStudio Max and beg
and plead with them to load the file and use an export plugin to get it into a file format
that you can work with.
It's very frustrating indeed when you find just that right peice of art, and you can't do
anything with it.

I've had similar issues. There is a lot of good free art work out there in 3DS and MAXformats, and it's difficult to find a reliable way to get it into DTS and DIF formats without
losing a LOT.

The only thing I've found for PSK is a UnrealTournament 2003 file type.

Thanks for all the help, but I have one more question: Milkshape can import both *.max and *.psk file, but that doesn't help me, because I really don't like milkshape. So, does anyone know of a "milkshape to blender exporter", a "3ds Max to blender exporter", or a "PSK to blender exporter"? That would solve my problem completely.

such as this. The only modeling program I've managed to come even close to mastering
is Caligari gameSpace1.6 and their DTS export doesn't quite work.
gameSpace can load .3ds and .psk files though. From there you might be able to export
to some format that doesn't screw everything up so Blender can read it.
If anyone knows a reliable way to get something from gameSpace to a DTS or even to DIF
without losing the textures and keeping a collision mesh, please let me know.
I'm upgrading today to trueSpace 7.5.1 with the gamePack so hopefully that will solve
at least 90% of my problems with this.
(sorry, didn't mean to take over your thread..)

Yeah, I'm an idiot. Forgot to check if Blender can import *.max files, I'm such an idiot. Thanks for all the help, but Blender can import *.max files, I was just too dumb to check. Thanks!
