Tribes 2 Networking (LAN)

I've got a stange problem when I try to run a T2 LAN game. My computers will netwok every other software I could find, and all of my PC's show up in network neighborhood, but if I use my most powerfull computer as a server, it will not be seen by the other one in the T2 game browser. I can't really network them the other way because the other computer isn't powerfull enough for a decent ping. No one I've asked has had any helpfull suggestions, so i was wondering if any of you people Had a soulution.
Variables:
-- All PCs have the same OS (WIN98)
-- All Pcs have the same Tribes 2 Version (24834)
-- P-P network over ethernet crossover cable (I tried it on a hub and there was no change)
-- Specified IP addresses (DHCP didn't help)
-- exactly the same network hardware (linksys NIC's)

Well thanks anyway. I just didn't want to get too involved with Sierra. Guess that's my next step anyway.

then on the clients, press the INSERT key on the game list screen (if insert doesn't bring-up the "Join IP" dialog box, flip to another screen and back).
then type-in the local IP, ie. 192.168.0.5:28000 or whatever, and join that way.
I've never tried to run a LAN only game, but I find that LAN servers won't show-up in the game browser list unless you manually enter their IP with the INSERT key.
best of luck !!

hmm, as long as the server box is on the internet, I'd personally try to run a regular internet server (with password if necessary).then on the clients, press the INSERT key on the game list screen (if insert doesn't bring-up the "Join IP" dialog box, flip to another screen and back).
then type-in the local IP, ie. 192.168.0.5:28000 or whatever, and join that way.

You ARE running the Solo/LAN mode, right? And not the Online mode?

I'm only going to ask this because the KISS rules require it...lol. Sometimes its the simple stuff that gets us.You ARE running the Solo/LAN mode, right? And not the Online mode?

In response to Eric, yes I'm shure I'm running solo & LAN, and in response to Alex, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I've found that unreal tournament does the same thing, but I didn't know that you could manually enter the IP in Tribes 2, which was the solution to UT's problem.
I've been hacking on that one for a while too, so thanks again Alex! :)

I can't answer your question, though it does sound a bit odd (that it doesnt work right). Someone here may know and speak up. If they don't, as far as I know GG doesn't do any support for Tribes2. They only were contracted to do the new updates. Try Sierra's website or PlanetTribes.com. :-) Garage Games, the site, is all about creating independant games. No offense to the tribes2 players, but if lots of gamers started posting here, we'd have to weed through all those to get to our messages!
Best of luck, tho.
