Is the torque game engine good for non-programers?

I'd say so. I don't consider myself much of a coder, and 90% of the work I do is either scripts or content. Yet, I would not trade in my license even if I had the choice to. If your PR skills are any good, you will find coders to help, and you will want the code just to maintain complete control of your project. The price is negligable to the value.

PR skills aren't important unless you have skill to do something.

No one wants to be a part of a project with some guy who just has an idea, but can't code or make good looking artwork... well, unless you pay them.

If you're truly a non-programmer, you had better have a solid plan and some good leadership and organizational skills. If you don't, then you should learn how and then make your own game with a team.

If you're not willing to learn, then you aren't going to be making any games.

Keep in mind, that you only have to pay the $100 if you are changing engine code.

That being said, my opinion is yes and no.

Yes, if you want to make "mod" games from the Tribes 2 engine. If your game fits the style then go for it.

No, if you need to do anything outside of the norm. It would be incorrect for a non-programmer to pay $100 and believe they can start slinging code in a short time.

I think the $100 would be well worth the engine, experience, and flexibility. It's practically free.
