How to game model?

Greets all,
I have been tinkering around with animation (EDIT: and modelling) for some time in Maya 8.0 but I was wondering is there a decent document somewhere on how to build low poly buildings, weapons etc for games?
Lets take a fantasy style house for instance... How to build it... skin it.... and still have it low poly enough for game use.

There are lots of good tutorials on low polygon modeling with Maya. Skinning them is a matter of using some sort of UV unwrapper, then painting in your texture to the resulting flattened polygon texture.
