How to make a movie

by Michael Bacon · in Torque Game Engine · 09/22/2007 (4:29 pm) · 4 replies

I'm sorry if this has been answered before (I'm sure it probably has) but I have been unable to find the appropriate information.

What is the best way to make a little movie of game play?

I just want to show off my work with a little 10 second clip or something.

Fraps in my opinion does a good job. www.fraps.com

On the Mac side, I would recommend SnapzProX. It's a really nice piece of software, although it's not free. Also, to convert the movie file to other formats (WMV, for instance) you'll need other software like Quicktime Pro.

I second Fraps as a good device to capture movies from in-game. Another alternative is GameCam although I prefer Fraps. Both have free versions available (with restrictions of course) and are quite cheap to purchase if you need the full versions.

To convert the video and perform basic editing you could use Windows Movie Maker or VirtualDub if you're after free options.

If you're after that professional touch then I would recommend Adobe Premiere.

Well, I checked out Fraps on Adam's suggestion and it worked great.

Then I too used VirtualDub for compression.

Thanks guys!
