My future with videogames ???

Hello :O
I just got my BA in Art and am thinking about grad school now. For the past few years I've been obsessing over the idea of designing videogames. I've filled numerous sketchbooks with "in-game" pictures and gameplay structure notes, etc. and can not get these ideas out of my head. sometimes I can't get sleep at night because I see the graphical layout of a game in my head swirling with characters and interactions that I feel like I have to piece together.
my inspiration is the mysterious feeling i get when playing some older titles on PC and Nintendo, like I am immersed in an interactive world of metaphor and secrets. i want to help recreate that. i want to see an artificial world saturated with energy.
anyways, I've been thinking about Graduate school for Game Design. I'm an artist, but am more interested in the mechanics of gameplay than the graphics. I guess I'm just not sure what to focus on. I wish I was a programmer, but I stopped doing that like 12 years ago with QBASIC.
What I really want to do is hook up with some programmers and other artists and start working, but it seems unrealistic without any upfront money in the picture.
Or I can just start working on final drafts of the graphics for game ideas I have sketched out, not being sure if they will go anywheres or not without other talent to complete it. I am very ineterested in making something very fun out of simplicity, and my mind's been pretty well stimulated in the 2D world. I feel 2D top-down views can convey alot more information than clumbsy 3D perspectives. So is it sprite-grinding time?
well these are my disorganized thoughts on a passion.
thanks for reading!
p.s. anyone know a good Grad school for game design?

You seem like just the type of person we are looking for at RazuMedia.
We are a small group of dedicated developers working together to get some experience, and games, under our belt. Often it seems that to join a game project you already need to have games created to show them - its a bit of a "what came first, the chicken or the egg"-situation.
Thats why we started RazuMedia. To have a creatice environment for creative and talented people who are just starting their careers with game design.
Please have a look at out website:
www.razumedia.com
And if you have any questions feel free to contact me. Contact information is in my profile, and on the website.
I wish you the best of luck :-)

If the latter, you could join us over at RazuMedia, it's a non-profit group set up to give beginning developers a chance to work on an actual team, on actual games.
It's non-paid work, and the games themselves won't actually be sold (released maybe, but not sold).
In any case, I'm gonna have Rasmus, our 'leader' post the details over here and see what you think.
