What program can do this?

What program can export my animation to a .DSQ file. I have milkshape and 3ds max, but I haven't figured out what settings I need to use to export my animation. I look around and searched google, but I came up empty. Anyone know?

There are several modeling packages that can export dts and dsq files:

Lightwave
3d studio max
Milkshape
Blender
Maya
I think: Softimage XSI

How dsq's are exported is different from exporter to exporter.

Lightwave from my experience is the easiest one to use the dts exporter for. But that is just my opinion.

I use milkshape to do my animation sequences. When I go to export the file, there isn't a Export to .dsq. There is however a exporter to .dts format. Is there a plugin I am missing?

Also, after adding an animation, would I need to recompile the engine?

DtsPlus exporter has export dsq also, i think its a checkbox you click and the something like add sequence, where you give it a name and then the frames its between, its in the msd2dtsPlus exporter i believe

I got it, I had to download milkshape 1.8b beta. I don't have it registered because, I only have a liscense for 1.7.4 and I don't know how to upgrade it. I was able to export in DSQ.

Second question, how do I tell the newly (random character object) to use the animation? He is not a main character, but an enemy.

I have his root stance and his walk animation. The walk animation is actually him jumping around like a maniac, but i named it walk for now.

If you've got a license for 1.7.4, then you also have a license for 1.81b -- and unlimited free upgrades. Find the email that Chumbalumsoft sent you with your user name and registration code for 1.7.4.

Start MS3D 1.8.1b. Click on Help --> About.... The "About MilkShape 3D" window has an "Ok" button and a "Register" button.

Click on "Register". Then Copy your user name and registeration code from the registration email and Paste them into the appropriate fields in the "Register" popup.

After your registration is accepted, click on the proper "Ok" and "Close" buttons. If you have trouble with this, talk to the gang at chumbalum.swissquake.ch/index.html and they'll help you. They're a good bunch.
