by Awesome Coder!!! · in Technical Issues · 09/01/2007 (10:09 am) · 29 replies

Hi I have this really great game idea, with portals and AI monsters that evolve into new monsterrs but I just need some programmers to help out coding it, who wants to help ? Your name will totally be in the credits, and once it starts to make a lot of money there will be royalties too. Also I need one or two artists to help with some basiuc modelling but not much really beacause as I said I already have all the ideas totally planned out, and also the monsters will evolve themselves so it doesnt really need that much original art work! Oh also I looked for the placve where Garage Games lets you sign up to publish your game, but I couldn't find it, can someone tell me where that is!? thanks! I want to be sure they will publish it after I put all this work into it.

Here i have had my character add a picture of a monster from the Cthulu mythos, actually its Cthuhlu himself, with an text that implies that the last user who posted spells like a cat(feline housepet). Its very usal for computerpunks, if i might refer to them in that way, that they use inoative edited pictures to "h@x" people. As you can see, its very effectfull, the general impression i get from this picture is both humoristic and effective in its task, i mean it get all it wants to get said said right?

Next week, im puting up a screenplay with the Awesome Coder character, where he will play a major role. Im actually really happy about how Awesome Coder turned out, and i think that he definitivly will stand out among the rest of the characters.

Wow I was in a really bad mood when I came to work today but then I stumbled onto this thread. I'm in a MUCH better place now. But my side hurts from laughing so hard.

Wow... I was going to "throw my hat in the ring," and contribute my thoughts to this thread....

Until the Cthulhu picture was posted...I know there is a "Hitler Rule" for forums and IRC, and I'm pretty sure there is one for Cthulhu...

I don't know. I don't wanna know. I'm out...

Yeah Awesome is really Awesome, wish he would have stayed... Cthulhu is.to.godamn AWESOME to apply any rules to. Seriously, i have not even read any of those Cthulu books, but im scared shitless of her/him/it anyways. In a web RPG i used to have one of the evil gods you could chose was Cthulhu, i was really happy with that god. It was a she that lived in an imense cosmic subteranean sea, which of course was a metaphor over the void. You could get an item called "Cthuluhs Eye" that made you spot Sneakers, and also made you totaly badass. That was some scarry game over all actually.

That picture, is not the least scary. It makes Cthuluh look human, giving Cthuluhu human attributes is the least i would do with that evil squid.

@TedJHehdjehdi - .....Annnnnnnnnd there it is....

The very image of Cthulhu has inspired a person to recount their knowledge and experience with an iconic figure, thus derailing this thread and causing it to spin off the tracks ending up in a fiery mess.

Years later, this thread will be necroed by someone with their own Cthulhu jokes and images in the the form of "Caturday" (yes, I went there).

If it was not a rule before, it is now. In the spirit of Godwin's Law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law), I hereby invoke Cthulhu's Law.

Whereas Godwin's Law is defined as follows:
Quote:As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.

... once such a comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically "lost" whatever debate was in progress.

Cthulu Law is thusly defined:

Quote:When a single mention of Cthulu in an online discussion is made, the probability of idiocy and total geekdom approaches one. All credibility of the thread, debate within, and first poster to mention said name is lost throughout the rest of time.

Would everyone join me in a moment of silence as we mourn the passing of this thread?

Dunno Michael... I think this thread began D.O.A.

That law is faulty, its should be something like this:
"as a online discussions grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving ANYTHING between heaven and earth approaches one." Sorta like shakespeare and the infinite monkeys with infinte time. You cant rule out specific elements, for example, your post with diffrent theories about online discussions througly added to the death of this thread. Anyways, this thread apearantly acts as an strong anti-depressive psychofarmica, "Wow I was in a really bad mood when I came to work today but then I stumbled onto this thread. I'm in a MUCH better place now. But my side hurts from laughing so hard"(ok some dangerous side effects but noone if perfect)
so it should be allowed to stumble off topic, with or without nazis or scarry monsters.

@Ted - Based on your most recent statement, you are correct in claiming "abusus non tollit usum."

However, in this case, the use of Cthulhu is in fact abuse and completely deserving of denial and thread killing.

However, in the spirit of providing good humor to future readers, perhaps a different route should be taken:
