Blender: Creating Faces

by Ben Immel · in Artist Corner · 08/28/2007 (9:35 pm) · 3 replies

Ok, so, I think Im doing it right unless im missing something. I select 4 vertices to create a face from, I Press F and it brings up a menu:
Auto
Make FGon
Clear FGon
Skin Faces/Edge

So, i know how to get to the menu, but when I click auto, nothing happens. Make FGon does nothing or Clear FGon, and SKin Faces/Edge, half the time it says it cant because one or more verts are part of one or more edge loops, and other times it says it cant use inside verts? Im really confused so any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers!

This is because you actually have more than 4 points selected. Try it again with just 4 points, the F key should not give you any message at all, it should just fill the face.

Yea, i think some how i really screwed the model up, cause i started a new file, made a few boxes, extruded some edges, made it really weird looking, and started randomly making faces between 3/4 vertices and it was working fine. Maybe when i was selecting the points I was catching some in the background that were behind it. Thanks Gustavo for the help!

There is a tab Editing ( F9) and to the far right under " to Sphere" is Remove Doubles...this helps when vertices are hidden on top of eachother.
